Note:
Operating Systems: Windows 98, Windows NT and Windows 2000 SP2 to SP4 are not supported by ScotiaFX Internet Trading Platform. To use this platform your local PC must have Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or Windows 7 installed.

Oracle JAVA Requirements

The ScotiaFX Internet Trading platform requires that you have Oracle Java 1.6.0 Update 25 or above installed on your local PC.

Check with your information technology group if you have a department that is responsible for applications on your desktop.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If you upgrade to Oracle Java 1.6.0 Update 25 or above and are currently using a lower version of Java for other applications, you may experience difficulties accessing your other applications.

If you are using Java 7 Update 4 and 5 you will also require Java 1.4.1, please contact Client Support Desk for North America for assistance. Contact information is below in the Security section.

Browser Requirements

  • Internet Explorer: version 6.0 SP1 or above
If you need to upgrade your browser:

Check with your information technology group if you have a department that is responsible for applications on your desktop.

If you do not have an IT department, you can upgrade your browser by going to the Microsoft web sites, which have free downloads. If your current browser is specifically selected for an application, you may choose not to overwrite it with the upgrade but install a second browser. You should follow all instructions on these sites to do the upgrade. We do not take any responsibility for browser configuration.
  • Internet Explorer upgrade at www.microsoft.com - click on Downloads, enter the application name and your operating system.

A selection of downloads (and download times) will be presented. Pick the version of the browser you want to download and follow the instructions provided.

Security

The ScotiaFX trading application runs on our secure platform. A User ID and password are required to open each trading session. A client is able to specify the access privileges and trade and settlement limits for each authorized user. The application uses at least 128 bit encryption for all data and digital certificates to authenticate users.

ScotiaFX is built on a secure web server. If for security reasons your company has established a firewall, please have your IT department make arrangements for you to have access.
